Six Secrets to Successful Fundraising

Secret 1 – RISK FREE FUNDRAISING
While you are looking to raise money it’s always a good idea to choose fundraising ideas that protect your bottom line and ensure you cannot actually lose money. You should ask your fundraising service provider what happens to any unsold stock? Can you return the products or are you stuck with them? Also try to avoid upfront costs so you don’t need a budget to start.

Secret 2 – PROFITABLE IDEAS
The whole point of fundraising is to raise extra funds so it’s a good idea to make sure your preferred fundraiser is worth the effort BEFORE you start.  To help in this respect you should ask your fundraising service provider for examples of fundraising outcomes with schools or clubs that are of similar size to your group.  Also if they offer more than one fundraising idea you should tell them what your plan is and ask if you have selected the correct program, no one will know better than the company offering you the ideas so get their advice. Finally when they give you a successful example for a similar sized group conducting a particular fundraiser you should ask what that group did to raise so much money – often there are subtle tips you can get to make all the difference!

Try and use fundraising ideas that fit your curriculum. This not only allows you to set a learning platform but it will also save you effort. EXAMPLES. A Green Up on World Environment Day or a Sunblock Drive during National Skin Cancer Week.  By combining your fundraiser with an existing cause you will benefit from media exposure in the wider community and this will help you create awareness, support and involvement.
